About the Banner Haven Innkeepers

banner elk bed and breakfastThe Innkeepers, Greg and Amy Gardner, arrived in Banner Elk in January 2012 after being gone for more than 18 years. During that time they gained a great deal of experience in business operations, human resources, marketing and advertising, through the ownership of several businesses including a sign and screen printing company, a coffee house and a cigar shop.

Greg and Amy Gardner have brought their unique style to the bed and breakfast industry in Banner Elk, NC. With it has come a new way of enjoying your breakfast … any time … any place. While remodeling the kitchen, guests dinned at Banner Elk Cafe. Most enjoyed the diverse menu so much that Banner Haven now provides breakfast through several local restaurants, all day, instead of at a set time on property.

With several successful businesses in their past, Greg and Amy came to Banner Haven looking for something new and found the experience of a lifetime. Greg and Amy Gardner owned a sign company and coffee shop, before relocating to Banner Elk and becoming the Innkeepers at Banner Haven Bed and Breakfast. Their background made them a perfect choice to open and manage the newest B&B in the Highcountry. They are involved in the local Chamber or Commerce, as board members and very active in the community. With their attention to detail and orientation toward customer service, Greg and Amy are perfect for guest relations.

They explain that nothing prepared them for becoming innkeepers. “On a trip to Banner Elk we found this opportunity and decided it was time to take a leap of faith. With no experience in inn management, we ordered a book from Amazon and began devouring information. A few weeks later the coffee shop was closed and sign equipment sold. No matter what awaited, we were going forward with this new plan.”

Since then, the success has been market by excellent reviews on sites from VRBO to TripAdvisor. They seem to be doing very well and the guests enjoy the new breakfast.
